It is easy to find something to do in Milledgeville
It never fails, no matter where I go around town I am guaranteed to hear at least once, “I hate Milledgeville.”
Sure, all are entitled to their own opinion, but instead of wasting time complaining about the city you live in, why not do something to make Milledgeville more exciting?
This city is not going to get any better if you continue to think negatively about it. You can make anything happen with some energy and passion.
Find something that you really care about that you think is absent in Milledgeville, gather other people that are also interested in your idea and find the appropriate people to talk to that will help you get your idea up and running.
Do not get disappointed if things do not work out the way you want them to right away; with the right amount of dedication, you will begin to see your idea take shape.
If you are passionate about something already present here in Milledgeville, go be a part of it. Do you like art history?
Go join the new art history club. Interested in making Georgia College a greener campus? Go join the Green Fee Committee. There is something for everyone here in Milledgeville, so you are guaranteed to find an activity that you are interested in.
Are you intrigued by the idea of starting something that is completely your own? Be an innovator.
There are several go-getters in Milledgeville who decided to make this city more exciting. Record stores have been opened and bike polo teams have been created because a few dedicated individuals stuck with their dreams and did everything they could to make something happen.
A lot of people say things like “I wish Milledgeville was more like (insert “cooler” city here).” Well I have an idea for you: whatever makes said city more exciting, make that happen in Milledgeville. Does Athens have better bands?
Start a band.
Does Atlanta have more places to explore? Go explore Milledgeville; I bet you will be surprised by what you find.
Basically what I am trying to say is that Milledgeville is not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.
Over as little as four months I have found several activities I feel passionate about, and it has turned me into a huge fan of Milledgeville.
When I go home, I look forward to coming back to this town.
I am not saying that I do not enjoy visiting other places, but I will always consider Milledgeville my home.
So stop your complaining, get off your butts and go dive into something new and exciting. I promise you will become a fan of Milledgeville quicker than you think.
