‘Bulletstorm’ great action game
“Bulletstorm” is a hybrid of a wildly over-the-top action game, arcade game and first-person shooter. The new gameplay, colorful dialogue and beautiful environments provide a jaw-dropping experience. Throughout the game, we get a vast mosaic of three violently different stories from the three main characters: Gray, Ishi and Trishka. Through in-game dialogue that is littered heavily with profanity and dirty jokes, there is actually some characterization and storytelling that connects the gameplay. This is not a narrative-heavy game, but it isn’t a bad one as far as first person shooters go.
The main feature “Bulletstorm” brings to the table an innovative method of using specific elements and methods in the game to kill an enemy and earn rewards. This is an absolute blast when playing through the single-player campaign. This type of system sets up some incredible gameplay and scenes of carnage that are a beauty to watch. The points system, in addition to the awesome visuals, adds a great deal to the game as a whole. One of the largest components in the points system is the use of the surrounding environment. While playing, you are always looking for bigger and better ways to take out the next wave of enemies and gain higher combos. People Can Fly and Epic Games did an excellent job of making the environment plausible. The levels take you through some great sections that provide for some great gameplay and some eye-widening vistas.
Complementing the points systems were the weapons that are in “Bulletstorm.” There is a wide variety of weapons in the game, most of which are classics in the first-person genre. What sets “Bulletstorm” apart, however, is the special abilities unlocked for your weapons through the game as well as some unique tools of war. The flail gun, for example, shoots two explosive charges connected with a chain that wraps around an enemy or attaches to any surface. This makes for great kills when used in combination with a kick from your gravity boot to set off some nearly cinematic chain reactions. The points the player acquire through kills can be spent on ammo capacity, special upgrades or ammo at the drop kits.
Bottom line:
“Bulletstorm” is an awesome game that introduces a points system, which has never before been seen in first-person shooters, that is perpetuated by beautiful level and scenery designs, subtle character development and captivating gun abilities and types.
