Issue 4 Sloppy Proppys.
I hope you had a great weekend! I’m sure you can tell, but I’m getting lazy and not scanning things any more. Our scanner’s too slow for that to work. So from now on it’s all screen shots. As always, let me know if you agree or disagree. Or as always, if you spot something I don’t see let me know by:
-Stopping by MSU 128 in person
-Emailing colonnadeletters@gcsu.edu

Slops:
Chelsea wrote a good article about a tragic thing that’s happening, but unfortunately we gave her the wrong title. Chelsea is a Senior Reporter; she’s an excellent writer. And to paraphrase/quote her reaction on Friday Three years later and I’m just a staff writer! These things can happen very easily. When editors pull in text it automatically says staff writer and has filler text for the name so if they forget to change the title then that person’s a staff writer.Claire Childs did a great job taking Rebecca’s weird size ad from last week and applying to to this week as an 1/8 page ad. It’s great promotion to get people to come to this blog except that there’s not a link for people to actually use so I guess they’ll have to Google to find us…Oops!
This might be our first headline error that I can remember (although I can barely remember breakfast). We always use single quotes in headlines, not double. So we had a great front page photos taken by Lauren, but unfortunately we misspelled Mockingbird in the first line. Simple typo that myself and the copy editor missed. Oh well, at least the photo is good.

Props:
When you tell someone to go make a graphic about Ovarian Cancer, you’re guessing you’re just going to get a bunch of numbers and boring facts, but instead Rebecca did a great job presenting one, powerful fact in a very simple manner. I love this graphic a lot!
And another great graphic! This could technically be a photo illustrations since it is a photo of someone on staff (you’ll have to guess who). Then we took it into photoshop and edited it to make a zombie. Very clever use of photoshop by Katelyn.
I’m not sure how well you can see this, but it’s an awesome photo spread Drake put together about “To Kill A Mockingbird.” I do wish that the spacing between all the photos was the same, but other than that it’s a great spread with awesome photos!
This is a great action shot by Trey! I could never dream of getting a shot this good. I love the action in the front and the on-looking people in the background. Very solid shot from a new (to us) photographer.
And we’ll end with another great photo. Drake took this good graffiti shot. I asked him and Michael on Tuesday if they would go find graffiti on campus and shoot it and instead of just getting a ton of male phallic symbols, I got this awesome picture of some cool graffiti Drake found. Props to you (if you’re reading) Drake.

And we’re done! It was a really solid paper, but I’m thinking 16 pages might be too many so we may scale it back to 14, which is ok. But who knows, Claire could come in tomorrow and tell me we have a bajillion ads in which case no 14 page paper. Peace out. -Matt
