2010 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony Final Instructions

The Commencement Committee joins the Office of the Registrar in
congratulating you on your graduation. In preparation for the
celebration of this special occasion, we would like to share some
final instructions with you.

The Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on Front
Campus with processional beginning promptly at 8:45 a.m. All students
should arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. We ask that all guests be
seated before the processional begins.

Tickets – Each guest is allotted 6 tickets. Please be sure you have
given your tickets to your guests before the ceremony. If you are
unable to pick-up your tickets, please notify the Office of the
Registrar, and tickets will be made available to you on the day of
commencement.

Additional Seating – Guests without tickets are welcome to view the
live broadcast of the ceremony from the satellite locations in Russell
Auditorium and in the Magnolia Ballroom. Russell Auditorium will also
be available with Audio Enhancement.

Physical Assistance – Please remember that if you or any of your
family or friends attending commencement have a disability requiring
special assistance or a sign language interpreter, please notify Mike
Chambers, Assistant Director of Equity for Disability Services at
(478)-445-5931.

Rehearsal – Rehearsal will be held on the GCSU Front Lawn on Thursday,
May 6 at 4 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, rehearsal will be
cancelled. If you have a final during this time period, you may not
miss your final to attend rehearsal. If you are in this situation,
please speak with a fellow graduate about the information you missed,
and review the information posted on the commencement Web site.

Senior Sendoff – Senior Sendoff Picnic will be held immediately
following rehearsal on the front lawn of Russell Auditorium (the rain
location will be at Maxwell Student Union Lounge (MSU)).

Lineup – Within each school, candidates will be lined-up
alphabetically within the degree designation they are receiving (BA,
BS, BBA, etc.) Undergraduate students graduating with academic honors
will be placed in the front of each degree designation. The faculty
marshals will assist you in properly lining-up for the ceremony.
Please be on time!

College of Arts and Sciences – Assemble behind Terrell Hall (left-side
of Cupola)

College of Health Sciences – Assemble behind Atkinson Hall (right-side
of Cupola)
College of Business – Assemble between Arts and Sciences and the
Library (follows Health Sciences)
College of Education – Assemble behind Lanier Hall (follows Business)

Inclement Weather Plan – In the event the inclement weather plan is
initiated, ceremonies will be moved to the Centennial Center. The
ceremony for candidates for the College of Arts will begin at 10 a.m.
with the processional beginning promptly at 9:45 a.m.; students should
arrive no later than 8:45a.m. The ceremony for candidates from the
College of Health Sciences, College of Business, and the College of
Education will begin at 2 p.m. with the processional beginning
promptly at 1:45 p.m.; students should arrive no later than 12:45 p.m.
You will only be able to march at the ceremony for your college;
please anticipate this possibility when making plans for Saturday.

All candidates should enter Centennial Center through the lower level
(south) entrance, and all guests enter through the main entrance doors
(near the tennis courts). Please be aware that due to fire codes,
tickets will still be required for commencement if it is moved
indoors. If the inclement weather plan is initiated, overflow areas
will not be available for guests.

Please refer to announcements on the GCSU Home Page and local radio
stations if the weather appears to be unfavorable in the hours prior
to the ceremony. Any decision to move the ceremony indoors will be
made by 6 a.m. Saturday.
