SGA meets in City Hall
The Student Government Association Senate and executives held quorum in Milledgeville’s City Hall this past Wednesday as an annual affair to close out the school year. On the same day that the Student Activities Budget Committee released their final budget for next school year, SGA reviewed the ups and downs of the past year.
The afternoon began with SGA President Ryan Greene thanking the City of Milledgeville for allowing SGA to use the complex and announcing the finalization of SABC’s budget decisions. The Senate then proceeded to run through each and every committee one by one, allowing the chair of the committee to speak on the successes and failures of the past semester.
Lauren McDonald, the chair of Public Relations Committee harped on one of her committee’s most recent successes, the bringing of Ruckus Music Player to Georgia College calling it one of their “proudest moments.”
“Ruckus has been met with unprecedented success,” McDonald told the Senate. “The buzz it has created has helped SGA give back to the students.”
One of the most highly anticipated committee undertakings of the semester was the new GCSU license plates. The license plate ended up going through the red-tape legislation rather smoothly, but didn’t quite come out the way the License Plate Committee wanted. The hope was that the Bobcat head could be the logo on the license plate that students could by.
President Greene ended the proceedings by mentioning over a half dozen successful ventures undertaken by SGA this semester, such as a student feedback box on MyCats, improved wireless speeds at West Campus and in residence halls and the extension of Library and Depot hours of operations.
