Graduating seniors to get six tickets

All graduating seniors will be receiving six tickets to the undergraduate commencement for their family and friends this May 10. Last year, all seniors received only five tickets, but because in the increase in the amount of seating available all graduates have gained an extra ticket.
“Most everybody that graduates or gets married,” Registrar A. Kay Anderson said, “will be doing so in May. This fact makes finding enough chairs the hardest part of any ceremony.”
The number of chairs that GCSU was able to reserve for commencement, which is on the morning of May 10, is around 6,500. People arriving late (after the 9:00 a.m. start time) will be asked to stand in the back unless they brought their own chair to sit on in the back.
If students do not need all their tickets, then they are encouraged to share them with classmates and friends that may need an extra seat or two for their family. There is no formal sharing or trading system set up now, but any student found to be selling tickets will be found in violation of the honor code and face disciplinary action.
There will be no tickets for Friday’s graduate commencement due to the small graduating class. Graduates have no limit as to the amount of friends and family that they can bring.
