Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor,
Being an international student from India, I was surprised to see number of students smoking on campus and how it is being treated as a “normal” thing amongst the students. I strongly feel if the GCSU cannot put a complete ban on on-campus smoking then at least a message can be sent around to students (even faculty) that should discourage smoking. A message like “Though smoking is not prohibited but students and teachers should avoid smoking on campus,” this would at least give the smokers something to think about. Needless to mention that it is beneficial both to smokers and non-smokers for the obvious health benefits of not smoking. So much has been written and researched about the possible injurious effects of smoking that it would be waste of time to repeat them again since every smoker knows he is inching towards cancer, asthma, heart complications, and bronchitis to name a few.
Sincerely,
Aman Khanna
