Arrest chronology and suspect’s description
Thursday, August 23, 2007:
1. An anonymous tip is called into Public safety around 10 p.m. stating that three white males suspected to have guns exited a blue Toyota Tacoma in Lot 4 and were entering Foundation Hall. Three officers were sent to the scene.
2. Dispatch ran the car’s tag number and identified the owner to be Wesley T. Crafton. Entering Foundation Hall, the three officers soon located Crafton and the two other subjects, Ryan McGovern and Cory Maddox, on the third floor in the room of a student, Molly McMillan.
3. The officers search the three suspects and find no weapons, but, cooperatively, Crafton admits to thaving a handgun in the passenger side of his car. The three suspects were placed in custody.
4. The three officers search the car finding three loaded handguns, several loose rounds, several boxes of ammunition, four knives, several magazines and two bottles of alcoholic beverages.
5. The officers locate more magazines, ammunition and loose rounds while searching his apartment at The Village. Crafton is placed under arrest and is charged with Possession of Firearms. He is suspended from the university pending a hearing.
The Suspect:
Name: Wesley Crafton
Age: 22 years old
Status: GCSU class of 2009
The Village Apartments resident
Background: Began school in spring 2007, as a junior in the university’s Criminal Justice program. According to background searches and school officials, Crafton has had no previous violations or noteworthy problems on his disciplinary record.
Currently: Crafton has been placed on suspension pending a hearing, and is banned from university property. All the weapons confiscated are liscensed.
