RHA changes to RSA to include The Village

     RSA begins fall 2007 with a new name and a vision to involve more students in campus life at GCSU.  After being known as Residence Hall Association for years, the association decided to change its name to Resident Student Association in order to include students living on campus in The Village apartments. 
     “We really wanted to be more inclusive and better represent students living both in the traditional residence halls and at the apartments at The Village,” said RSA co-advisor Amanda Gunter.
     RSA is comprised of students living on campus.  The association is committed to providing programs and events, and opportunities for community service and leadership development.  In recent years, RSA has hosted a Battle of the Bands program; food drives and also sponsored several students who attended regional leadership development conferences. 
     Eve Puckett, assistant director of housing, stressed the positive impact participation in RSA can have on a student. 
     “Getting involved helps you become connected to the university while providing an opportunity to have an impact on your community – not to mention it’s a lot of fun!”
     Each hall or apartment building is represented to RSA by an elected hall council. To find out more about RSA and how to get involved, students are invited to an informational meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 8:30 p.m. in the Foundation Hall classroom.
