Do not drunk dial while driving

On July 27 at approximately   2:56 a.m. Officer Pissott observed a vehicle on Hancock Street swerve into the eastbound lane of traffic several times. A traffic stop was conducted and contact made with a male student. The driver advised he was talking on his cell phone and that caused him to swerve. While speaking with the male, Officer Pissott could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. The driver admitted to drinking 3 beers two hours prior to the stop. When tested on the Intoxilyzer 5000, he registered .148. The male was arrested and transported to Milledgeville PD and charged with DUI and Weaving Over the Roadway. The vehicle was picked up by a sober driver.

Mysterious alarm refuses to turn off

On July 27 at approximately 6:41 a.m. a fire alarm went off at the Student Activities Center. Dispatch did not receive any notification of the alarm. The alarm was called in by housekeeping staff. Milledgeville Fire Department responded and attempted to reset the alarm, but were unsuccessful. The alarm was coming from the roof duct. Physical Plant was called in to fix the alarm.

You can run but you can’t hide

On July 28 at approximately 4:00 a.m. Officer Reonas observed a vehicle on Clarke Street with an obstructed tag display. A traffic stop was initiated and contact made with a male student, who had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and slurred speech. When tested on the Intoxilyzer 50000, he registered .107. The driver was arrested and transported to Milledgeville PD and charged with a DUI. The vehicle was left at the scene of the stop.

Back seat driver gets the boot

On July 29 at approximately 8:02 a.m. Officer Gaines was dispatched to the 300 block of North Clarke Street in reference to improperly parked vehicles. As he was placing a citation on one of the vehicles, he noticed a male asleep in the back seat. Contact was made with a male student, who had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. A check of his ID determined that he was 19 years of age. The male was arrested and transported to Milledgeville PD and charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol and Improper Parking. The vehicle was towed by Old Capitol Wrecker Service.

That car hid well. It came out of nowhere

On July 30 at approximately 3:14 p.m. Officer Miller was dispatched to Lot No. 12 in reference to an accident. Contact was made with a female, who stated she was backing her vehicle from a parking space and struck a vehicle driven by a male. The female stated she did not see the vehicle. There wasmoderate damage to both vehicles. There were no injuries.

Refusing to give up

On July 8, at approximately 12:30 in the morning Officer Reonas observed a vehicle on West Charlton Street with one working brake light. A traffic stop was initiated, but the driver would not stop. The vehicle ran through stop signs on several streets and then lost control of the vehicle in the 200 block of East Charlton, hitting a telephone pole. The driver then crawled out of the vehicle and into the woods. Contact was made with the driver, who sustained leg and head injuries. EMS was called and transported the driver to ORMC for treatment. Due to the severity of the drivers injuries, he was issued appearance citations and was not taken into custody.
