The SGA Newsfeed

The semester is quickly coming to an end, and Student Government Association wants to look back over the semester and recap how they have contributed to GC&SU and its students. Over this semester, SGA has given out $3000 dollars to nine Recognized Student Organizations in need of funds. As well as giving money to RSOs, SGA has also given out more money to other student organizations and clubs that needed funds to travel for academic purposes like going to conferences and making presentations around the nation.
Besides giving out money, SGA has also been quite involved this semester with doing events like getting “Baked on the Front Lawn,” where many RSOs around the campus baked goods and advertised their individual student organizations. SGA also stayed involved by looking into the graduation requirements and the advertising and chalking policy.
Recently the academic affairs committee has also started looking into the advisement process to see how students can get more help from outside sources besides their advisor during registration times. Look in The Colonnade and listen around campus for more details on this next semester.
Since the end of the semester is coming, that means something else is also coming… finals. But, SGA has good news (at least, as good of news as you can have when dealing with finals). The student services committee for SGA has changed the library hours for the week of finals. Starting Tuesday, the library will stay open until midnight for those late night studiers. Take my advice: Take advantage of the new hours; you will be thankful when grades come in.
Lastly, a few positions for senators are opening up for the beginning of next semester for SGA. If you are interested, please contact SGA by coming by the office or emailing them at student.government@gcsu.edu for more details.
Good luck GC&SU students with finals, and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
    See you in January!
