The SGA Newsfeed
Even though Halloween has swept through Milledgeville and is now gone, SGA wants to congratulate the student organization Peers Advocating Wellness, or P.A.W.S on their successful Halloween party. This “new” type of Halloween party had a nice crowd of about 200 students who came dressed and ready to have a little fun. P.A.W.S wanted to have this Halloween party in order to promote a safer Halloween evening, and with the help of SGA funding, the night was quite successful.
P.A.W.S is a Registered Student Organization that has been on campus for about three years. The purpose of this RSO is to promote wellness within life, including nutrition, physical health, and smoking and alcohol safety. P.A.W.S received a grant from the Department of Highway Safety in order to encourage highway safety around Milledgeville and the campus of GC&SU. Keep your eyes open for more P.A.W.S events next semester.
In other SGA news, the new housing ordinance officially passed this past Tuesday night. The new set of regulations is planning on going into effect in about two years. Even though the students did not “win” this decision, SGA is proud of all the student concern and interest in this topic. SGA is glad to see the communication lines between students and the city widen.
On a different note, SGA is going to be adopting a family through the Department of Child and Family Services for the Christmas holidays. If any student is interested in donating, please email SGA at student.government@gcsu.edu. Lastly, how do you, as a student, feel about the advising process? SGA is looking into this process and wants your opinions on the matter. Give a shout out to Ryan Greene at ryan_greene@ecats.gcsu. edu with your thoughts on the matter. Have a nice Thanksgiving Break, and see you in a few weeks!
