Puppy stolen, manhunt ensues
March 30, 1:15 p.m.: A student reported a suspicious male in yard behind her house on Clarke Street. She advised the male took a puppy out of her neighbor’s yard and left the area. A description of the male and the puppy were given out over the radio. Officer Williams saw a male with a dog matching the description given and when Williams attempted to make contact, the man ran towards Charlton Street leaving the puppy behind and hid under a house. Pepper spray was used to “convince” the subject to come out. When the man’s identity was discovered, it was also discovered that he had outstanding warrants in Baldwin County. The man was arrested and the puppy was returned to the owner who advised the puppy was worth nearly $600.
Poorly parked car grinded by shuttle
March 31, 2:17 p.m.: A student worker reported that while making a turn with the shuttle bus, the bus sideswiped a vehicle parked on the side of the road ,causing damage to the rear bumper, the drivers side and the front bumper. The vehicle was parked approximately 24 inches from the curb. The owner of the vehicle was notified.
Clashing tenants could not last a month more
April 4, 4:43 p.m.: Sgt. Ennis responded to Bobcat Village in reference to roommates fighting. Contact was made with two female students. After both students calmed down, a community assistant advised he would arrange different housing arrangements for them. The case was turned over to the Housing department.
Apple-muncher to blame for wrecked vehicle?
March 24, 11:45 p.m.: An employee reported that while his vehicle was parked in the 300 block of Hancock Street, unknown person(s) damaged the rear driver side lights, breaking the exterior cover. Sgt. Campbell checked the area and found apple remnants on the vehicle and on the ground near the vehicle.
