Idle Yeti hits Capital City
Idle Yeti made an appearance downtown at Capital City last Wednesday on Feb. 22. They rocked a good show and celebrated their new album, “Hypersaline Saloon.”
Bob Yeti, Cooper, Terry Lutz and Dallas Spires make up the band that began in January of 2003. Idle Yeti truly is a classic rock’n'roll band. There is no other way to describe the sound coming from these musicians with mainly long hair who perform in jeans and black shirts.
Wednesday’s show was during the downpour of rain that drove most students to stay inside, not coming out to support the show.
It was Idle Yeti’s first time playing at Capital City and Lutz, the bassist, said they were hoping for a good turn out, but that the rain probably put a damper on the size of the crowd. Regardless of who was there, Lutz said that Idle Yeti would still play a good show.
The listeners and fans who came out, though not many, did get a great show. Idle Yeti performed with enthusiasm and quality sound. People sang and danced and seemed to enjoy themselves while the entertainers played their music. Idle Yeti interacted with the crowd and transferred their energy from the stage to the listeners in the audience.
Lead singer Cooper explained that the band has so much fun, that they want everybody else to have this much fun and to have a good time with their music.
Idle Yeti said they are hoping to take their music as far as it will go. Cooper said that they’ve got something that will go far, it just depends on the band’s priorities and what sacrifices they are willing to make.
Bob, the electric guitarist said they want to make their music to be more than a memory; they want it to be a career. Idle Yeti is really concentrating on performing well and giving the audience a good show.
On the road to musical success and professionalism, Idle Yeti has released their first album, “Hypersaline Saloon.” The CD was released in January 2006 and the band has been touring all over the Georgia playing their new tunes. The guys stay true to their rock’n'roll sound and give listeners an ear full of electric guitars and classic rock.
The drummer Dallas said their songs are written collectively. Their lyrics are unique and Bob described them as being about having a good time when you’re young. Some songs included on this album are “Hitchhiker,” “Bring Me Your Love” and “Prostitute Diaries.”
The guys know their instruments and songs like “Crash N Burn” have lengthy instrumental intros. Vocally, their harmony is incredible and gives their music a hard and edgy sound. Most of the songs are upbeat and have a catchy, head-banging rhythm. However there are a few that are slower and more melancholy like “And I’ll Try.”
