GC&SU in All-College Chorus

Under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Flory, Max Noah Singers and University Chorus sent 12 representatives to the All-College Chorus from January 26-28 in Savannah, Ga.

The 12 representatives were among hundreds of talented singers from colleges all over Georgia, which included the Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Georgia, Georgia State University and Valdosta State University, among others.

This year’s All-College Chorus was directed by Weston Noble, an internationally recognized conductor and clinician. He has conducted more than 800 music festivals all over the United States and worldwide including Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Lithania. He is also the director of music and activities at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

The All-College Chorus performed rigorous and exciting pieces such as “Horizons” by Peter Louis Van Dijk and “Be Not Afraid” by Knut Nystedt.

Blair Janzen, a music education major, and Natasha Lee, a music major, were truly awed as participants of the All-College Chorus.

“I like to be challenged when it comes to music. It’s really what I love to do. And to be directed by such an amazing conductor as Mr. Noble really inspires and excites me that one day I’m going to be taking on that same profession,”Janzen said.

Lee also felt priviledged to be a part of the All-College Chorus.

“I loved All-College Chorus.

” I was honored to be a part of a group of the most talented singers in the state,” Lee said. “We worked so hard in just days to get this concert up and going. When it all came together it was just great. It was freakin’ amazing.”

Janzen shared similar sentiments.

“To be surrounded with people with just as much passion as I have for music is really amazing. The energy there was just contagious and really inspiring,” Janzen said.

Flory, director of the University Chorus and Max Noah Singers, was pleased with GC&SU’s representation at the All-College Chorus.

“I did not feel the need to audition people for this because a lot of them are in Max Noah Singers. They have to audition anyway to be in the ensemble,” Flory said. “As for those that are not in Max Noah, I feel confident that our singers are up to par and can represent us well. They did, and I am proud of the hard work that they have done.”
