Bike thief faces justice
Feb. 4, 4 p.m.: Two female students reported that their bicycles had been stolen from the bike racks in front of Parkhurst and Wells Halls. Sgt. Self reviewed the surveillance cameras and found a male and female leaving Wells Hall at about 2:45 a.m. He observed the male take a bike off the bike rack, ride it down to Parkhurst, put that bike in the rack and ride off on another bike while the female followed on foot. The female was identified and contact was made. The girl stated that her boyfriend, also a student, had taken the bikes. The bikes were returned to the owners and the male was charged with Disorderly Conduct.
Loitering man’s game hindered
Jan. 23, 7:14 p.m.: A student contacted police and stated that a suspicious male was loitering outside Adams Hall. Sgt. Ennis responded and made contact with the man, who stated he was there to try and meet girls. The man was barred from GC&SU indefinitely.
Biker loses balance and falls, sustains injuries
Jan. 24, 3:15 p.m.: Officer Campbell responded to the area of Clarke and Hancock Streets in reference to someone falling off her bike. Contact was made with a student who stated she lost her balance and fell. The student was alert and complained of pain to her right abdomen area. EMS was called and transported the victim to the Oconee Medical Center.
Creepy stalker, or coincidence?
Jan. 17, 9:30 a.m.: A student reported that a male in her calculus class has been staring at her and she believed that he might be stalking her because she saw him at three different locations. The student advised that she had been stalked before but would not provide any information about the incident.
Two GC&SU vehicles collide, one unmanned
Jan. 19, 10:50 a.m.: A GC&SU employee reported that while backing a GC&SU vehicle from the 100 block of Thomas Street, he struck another GC&SU vehicle due to ice being on the window. There was slight damage to the first vehicle and no damage to the second vehicle.
Camera knocked down by student
Jan. 22, 5:18 a.m.: A student reported that unknown person(s) had knocked down a camera that was recording the rear door at Foundation Hall. There did not appear to be any damage to the camera or the building.
Cell phone thief strikes Bobcat
Jan. 9, 11:40 a.m.: A student reported to Public Safety that two cell phones had been stolen from his apartment over the holiday break at Bobcat Village. The phones are valued at $300 each. There are no suspects yet.
