‘Fashion Fix’ not appropriate at GC&SU
Dear Editor
It discourages me that our campus newspaper dedicates part of the arts and entertainment page to Vanessa Voigt’s article “Fashion Fix.” Miss Voigt’s article does not provide the GC&SU community with innovative, edgy fashion tips, but mundane, advice on how to dress like everyone else. In addition to true fashion tips Miss Voight’s article is in need of a social awareness overhaul.
The Colonnade should encourage Miss Voigt to take a Women’s Studies course or any class taught by Dr. Tina Yarborough. In the December 2nd edition of The Colonnade, Fashion Fix gave Carissa Wade fashion advice for a New Year’s Eve party. The advice included what Carissa’s boyfriend should wear to the party. There was no mention of a boyfriend in the question to “Fashion Fix.” Lee Sandow, the variety editor, should have caught this too common faux pas. My peers are tired, and the GC&SU students are tired of this article and ready for something more entertaining. The Colonnade should go to the Art, Music or Theatre Departments and speak with students to enrich the Arts and Entertainment page. This page needs to be dedicated to the students who are studying to become professionals in the field of Arts and Entertainment, not Vanessa Voigt’s Fashion Resolutions for 2006.
