DUIs run rampant
Dec. 30, 2:10 a.m.: Driver on Wilkinson Street was stopped, tested and registered .180. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Jan. 1, 2:53 a.m.: Driver on Clarke/Thomas Streets was stopped, tested and registered .122. The driver was arrested for DUI Under 21.
Jan. 3, 12:14 a.m.: Driver on Elbert Street was stopped, tested and registered .105. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Jan. 3, 2:13 a.m.: Driver on Wilkinson Street was stopped, tested and registered .165. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Jan. 6, 2:45 a.m.: Driver on Clarke/Hancock Streets was stopped, tested and registered .157. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Jan. 12, 2:03 a.m.: Driver on Wayne Street was stopped, tested and registered .125. Driver was arrested for DUI.
Jan. 13, 2:04 a.m.: Driver on West Campus Drive was stopped, tested and registered .166. The driver and passenger were arrested for DUI and Underage Possession of Alcohol.
Jan.13, 2:37 a.m.: Driver on Hancock Street was stopped, tested and registered .148. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Jan. 15, 1:05 a.m.: Driver at Wayne/McIntosh Streets was stopped, tested and registered .208. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Heavy books cause fork lift accident
Dec. 20, 4:10 p.m.: While moving books using a forklift in the employee parking lot on Wilkinson Street, the machine hit a patch of wet leaves that cause the fork lift to slide into a parked car. There was no damage to the fork lift and slight damage to the vehicle.
Two students duke it out, tooth loosened
Jan. 7, 11:30 p.m.: Police were dispatched to Oconee Regional Medical Center in reference to a student involved in a fight. Contact was made with the student in the hospital, who advised that another student had struck him numerous times in the face causing cuts and knocking a tooth loose. The injured student stated he did not want to press charges, but wanted compensation for the medical costs. Statements were taken from the victim, witnesses and offender.

Jan. 7, 1:24 p.m.: Two students reported that over the holiday break, unknown persons entered their room at Bobcat Village and pushed furniture around, turned on lights and threw clothes around. This was not the first time it had happened. After Officer Grant checked the room and found no sign of forced entry. The students advised the officer that nothing appeared to be missing this time, but kitchen appliances had been missing in past occurrences. The case has been turned over to Detective Butler, but no evidence has been revealed.
Student’s roommate found hung
Jan. 13, 5:55 p.m.: Officer Dixon responded to two students hollering from across the street. Officer Dixon ran across the street and made contact with two students who were both very upset and crying. They advised that they thought that one of their roommates had hung himself. The door was locked and Officer Dixon climbed through a window and walked back to the room where he observed the victim hanging from a belt. Officer Dixon immediately called dispatch to have EMS en-route. Officer Dixon then used a knife to cut the victim down and by that time EMS had arrived and began resuscitation procedures. Milledgeville Police Department then arrived and the case was turned over to them.
