Chevron/Texaco reports gas card fraud
On Oct. 10, 2005, Chevron/Texaco notified Public Safety about a gas card that showed signs of suspicious activity. The illegal activity started on September 15 and continued until the card was canceled this week. During that time, about $1300 in charges were made on the card. The case is under investigation by Detective Butler.
Drunk student triggers call box alarm
On Oct. 14, 2005, at about 12:25 a.m., an emergency call box was activated in lot #13. Officer G. Williams was dispatched to the scene, where he made contact with a group of subjects. One of the group, a Georgia State University student, admitted to activating the call box. The student also admitted that he had been drinking and that he was underage. He was arrested and transported to Milledgeville Police Department, where he was charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol.
Driver had no registration, insurance
On Oct. 14, 2005, at about 1:50 a.m., while Officer G. Williams was on Jefferson Street, he observed a vehicle with a burned out taillight. A traffic stop was initiated, and contact was made with the student driver. A check of the vehicles registration showed that the registration was suspended, and that the driver had no insurance. The driver was issued a citation for Driving with no Insurance and Suspended Registration, and the vehicle was towed by Old Capitol Record to their impound lot.
Wallet lost, license only thing returned
On Oct. 15, 2005, at about 1:03 a.m., a student reported that he had lost his wallet somewhere in Bobcat Village on October 8 between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Someone, whose identity is unknown, mailed his license back to him. The rest of the wallet is still missing.
Student caught with suspended license
On Oct. 16, 2005, at about 2:04 a.m., Officer G. Williams observed a vehicle on Jefferson Street that was driving with an expired tag. A traffic stop was initiated, and contact was made with the driver. A check through the Georgia Crime Information Center showed that the driver’s license was suspended for Failure to Appear. The driver said his license had been suspended on October 10, and that the officer had taken his license at that time. The driver was arrested ,taken to the Milledgeville Police Department and was charged with Driving While License Suspended.
U-Haul truck crashes into gate at Bobcat Village
On Oct. 16, 2005, at about 9:50 p.m., a student reported that a vehicle had crashed into and broken the gate at the parking entrance at Bobcat Village. Contact was made with the driver, who was driving a U-Haul that struck the gate. The driver said that he was delivering items to a member of the Lady Bobcats at the time. A work order was done to replace the damaged gate.
