SGA Happenings: Vote for your senators and Mr. and Mrs. GC&SU
Dear Editor,
Kappa Upsilon Chi came to SGA to request funding for their organization to host a “Gilligan’s Island Social” in MSU on Thursday, October 13. The social will be open to the public and would allow the fraternity to connect with students all over campus.
Kappa Sigma also came before SGA to request funding for the Lake Oconee NSCA Lane Thomas Memorial Blast hosted by the National American Cancer Society that will occur on Oct. 29, and Nov. 4 to 6.
The Lane Thomas Memorial Blast is a national skeet shooting fundraiser, and The National Cancer Society will receive all the proceeds of the event. Kappa Sigma members will even serve as referees to save the costs of paying referees and allow the saved money to go to the Cancer Society. These bills will be voted on by SGA next Wednesday.
Tables will be set up by SGA senators and officers next Wednesday and Thursday for Mr. & Ms. GC&SU elections from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Front Campus.
The Bookstore Task Force headed by Michael Haun of Auxiliary Services met Wednesday and took the next step in addressing the issues of high textbook prices by working to agree on a draft letter to Anne Gormly, vice-president & dean of faculties, informs the faculty of the findings of the task force and recommendations as to what changes can be made and how they can be made. Meetings with faculty and department members will be in the weeks, and progress is being made by the task force.
Next week’s meeting is on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Bobcat Dining Room next to where the ice cream is served in Sodexho cafeteria.
SGA meetings are on Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Dogwood Conference Room in the Student Activities Center, and they are open to the Bobcat community. If you have any ideas or concerns, please feel free to attend one of the meetings.
Sincerely,
Daniel Troutman, SGA
