SGA Happenings: Water-ski team, Rho Lambda, Constitution Day
Dear Editor,
The water-ski team was allocated $500 this week by SGA for the
upcoming 1st Semi-Annual Collegiate Water-Ski Tournament that will be held the September 24 and 25. The money will be used in addition to the team’s funds to pay for gas for the boat and other finances for the event such as hotel rooms for the judges.
The sorority Rho Lambda became an official RSO (Recognized
Student Organization) of Georgia College & State University after approval was voted on by the Senate on Wednesday. Rho Lambda is a National sorority that honors leadership of those women in their sorority and in the community as well.
The organization has been chartered at Georgia College and State
University since the mid-1980′s but was reactivated last year.
CAB (Campus Activities Board) and SGA will be sponsoring “Batman Begins” for Movie Night at Magnolia Ballroom on Friday, September 30. There will be free food and drinks that night as well.
Constitution Day was a success thanks in part to those students
who visited the table on Monday and received a hand-held Constitution and celebrated the history and freedom of our country as well as those with SGA who diligently labored for the
tables to be a success. The names of the winners of the raffle for the gift certificates are now up for the winners to see in the Student Activities Center on the bulletin board from the side entrance.
There are still openings on the bookstore task force for those students interested in representings their fellow peers in the policies and operations of the bookstore, including the prices of the texbooks. The committee is headed by Michael Haun, marketing manager for Auxiliary Services. If interested, contact Vice-President Zaira Solano at zaira_solano@bobcat.gcsu.edu for more information.
SGA meetings are on Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Dogwood Conference Room of the Student Activities Center, and they are open to the community. If you have any ideas or concerns, feel free to attend the meetings.
Sincerely,
Daniel Troutman
