Police chase goes off-road

On Sept. 17, 2005, at approximately 2:48 a.m., Officer G. Williams observed a vehicle leave the Flash Food Store on Jefferson Street without working tail lights. A traffic stop was initiated, but the vehicle would not stop. Officer Williams continued to follow the vehicle on Jefferson Street, then to Mitchell Street and then through the back yards of several residences. The vehicle finally came to a stop at 921 North Wayne Street. Contact was made with the driver, who was taken into custody. The driver was taken to the Milledgeville Police Department and tested on the Intoxilyzer, where he registered .088. He was charged with DUI, Taillight Requirements and Fleeing/Attempting to Elude Police. The vehicle was left at the scene of the final stopping location, and the keys given to members of his family.

Student’s boyfriend outstays his welcome

On Sept. 14, 2005, at approximately 9:47 p.m., Sgt. Ennis was dispatched to Bobcat Village in reference to a student dispute. Contact was made with two students, who stated they were having a dispute with their roommate’s boyfriend. The roommates advised that the boyfriend spent the night at their apartment almost every night, and they did not want him to. Sgt. Ennis went over the Bobcat Village Complex Guest Policy with all four subjects, and everyone agreed to try and come to an agreement and abide by guest policy rules. The students were advised to contact the Director of Housing if problems persisted.

Shrimp goes missing from Sodexho

On Sept.19, 2005, at approximately 10:33 a.m., a Sodexho employee reported that between Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. and 7 a.m., Sept.19, unknown person(s) took 15 pounds of shrimp from the cooler. There are no suspects at this time.

Door of Governors’ Mansion found unlocked

On Sept. 15, 2005, at approximately 7:52 p.m., while on foot patrol, Officer Grant found the west door under the steps at the old Governors’ Mansion unsecured, and it opened when Officer Grant pushed on it. A check of the building was conducted, and everything appeared to be OK. An employee was called and advised of the situation. He advised Officer Grant how to reset the alarm. The door was secured and the alarm reset.

Drunk man urinating in public lands arrest

On Sept.16, 2005, at approximately 11:39 p.m., Officer G. Williams observed a male urinating on the sidewalk at the intersection of Wayne and Hancock Streets. Contact was made with the student, who blew a .170 on the Alco-Sensor. He was arrested and transported to Milledgeville Police Department and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

Sick student refuses to go to hospital

On Sept.18, 2005, at approximately 12:17 a.m., Sgt. Tuft was dispatched to Napier dorm in reference to a sick student. Contact was made with the student, who had been drinking alcoholic beverages earlier and now was vomiting. EMS responded and examined the student, who refused transport to Oconee Regional Medical Center. A Notice of Disciplinary Action was written on the student.
