Student to be extradited to Florida on DUI warrant
On September 9, 2005 at approximately 6:47 a.m., a student made contact with Officer G. Williams at Public Safety in reference to a previous DUI case. When the student’s license was run through GCIC, a warrant from Florida came back on him. The warrant was verified and the student was arrested and transported to Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office to await extradition.
Unescorted guests run rampant in Adams Hall
On September 5, 2005 at approximately 1:41 a.m., Officer G. Williams was dispatched to Adams Hall in reference to 4 males tearing down signs in the hallway. Contact was made with a Kennesaw Student in Adams Hall. He was a guest staying with a GC&SU student. The student was contacted by phone and he returned to Adams Hall. The student and another GC&SU student stated that they did now know where the two Kennesaw students were. Later in the morning, Officer Williams made contact with the Kennesaw students. The Kennesaw students were arrested and transported to Milledgeville Police Department and charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol and Disorderly Conduct. The GC&SU student was given a Notice of Disciplinary Action because he had not been drinking.
Drunken student found in lobby with vodka bottle
On September 9, 2005 at approximately 3:47 a.m., Officer G. Williams observed a male standing in the lobby door with a bottle of vodka in his hand. Contact was made with the student, who stated he was 19 years of age and that there was vodka in the bottle. When tested on the portable Alco-Sensor, the student registered .204. The student was arrested and transported to Milledgeville Police Department and charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol.
Student survives failed suicide attempt
On September 9, 2005 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Officer Campbell was dispatched in reference to a student who attempted suicide by taking antidepressants and cutting her wrists. Contact was made with the student and EMS responded. The student was taken to Oconee Regional Medical Center for treatment. Dr. Harshbarger and the student’s parents were notified.
Student injured while trying to aid other injured student
On September 11, 2005 at approximately 2:03 a.m., Sgt. Ennis was flagged down by a group of people near Wilkinson and Greene Streets in reference to injured persons. Contact was made with a student who had fallen on a brick wall and cut his head. Another student had tried to catch the first one and struck his nose on the brick wall. EMS was called and transported both subjects to Oconee Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Student keys roommate’s car after argument
On September 11, 2005, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a student reported to Public Safety that his car had been keyed. The student advised that he had an argument earlier in the day with his roommate, and he thought he might have been the person to do this to his vehicle. Detective Butler made contact with the roommate, who admitted to keying his roommate’s car. He has agreed to pay for the damage to the vehicle.
Money stolen from unattended purse
On September 13, 2005, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a student reported that she had left her pocketbook in a room in Kilpatrick to take a test, and when she returned, $70 had been taken from her purse. The case is under investigation.
