Project Change for Change raises money for Katrina victims
Residents of the Coverdell Leadership Living-Learning Community will be raising money for Hurricane Katrina victims beginning Monday Sept. 12.
Project Change for Change will last until October. All money raised will be donated to the American Red Cross.
For the week of Sept. 19 to Oct. 2, there will be Coverdell representatives at all Recognized Student Organizations meetings. The last week of the fundraiser, Sept. 27 to 29, there will be representatives in each of the residence halls from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. collecting donations.
Throughout the month, there will also be representatives collecting from local area businesses and serving as publicity coordinators. White ribbons will be given to those who donate money to the cause.
Project Change for Change is the idea of Rachel Hodge and Brandie Tatum, two representatives of the Coverdell LLLC.
“(Hurricane Katrina) really hit me hard,” said Hodge, a Coverdell representative. “It happened in our country.”
“We’re hoping Project Change for Change will become Georgia College & State University’s response to disasters in the future,” Tatum said. “We’re also looking to pull in the public school system and branch out.”
