President Leland’s car keyed
On August 5, 2005 at approximately 11:41 a.m., an employee reported that between July 5 and August 4, unknown person(s) keyed the right rear quarter panel of President Leland’s vehicle in Parks Lot. Photographs were taken of the damage.
Valuable earring missing
On August 12, 2005 at approximately 1:44 p.m., an employee reported that between 6 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on August 11, 2005, she lost an earring valued at $1100. Officer D. Williams checked MSU and talked with construction workers who advised that they had not seen the earring.
Car flipped by unidentified group
On August 19, 2005 at approximately 1:19 a.m., Officer Grant was dispatched to the 400 block of West McIntosh Street in reference to a vehicle being turned over by a group of guys. Contact was made with several witnesses who gave statements and descriptions. The owner of the vehicle was notified and requested Old Capitol tow the vehicle. Photos were taken at the scene and the case turned over for further investigation.
Parkhurst suffers graffiti attack
On August 19, 2005 at approximately 10:05 a.m., a student reported that unknown person(s) marked graffiti on the floors, walls and stairs of Parkhurst. The marks appeared to be gang related. There were similar marks in Wells Hall and on a bench outside of Adams Hall. There are no witnesses or suspects and a check of the surveillance tapes failed to show anything because the cameras of a malfunction.
Person forces way into Wells
On August 24, 2005 at approximately 9:37 a.m., an employee reported that a male had jerked the front door to Wells Hall open and was wandering through the building. Contact was made with the man, who stated he was a Mercer University student looking for a friend. He was escorted from Wells and banned from all residence halls for 180 days.
Badly parked vehicle leads to DUI charge
On August 31, at approximately 2:32 a.m., Officer G. Williams observed a vehicle that was partially parked on the road and grass on Montgomery Street near Liberty Street. He observed the driver exit the vehicle and drop several items on the street. Contact was made with the driver, a student. Officer Williams could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the person and observed that his eyes were bloodshot and watery. The student was only able to perform 1 field sobriety Evaluation because of his impairment. He was transported to Milledgeville Police Department and tested on the Intoxilyzer 5000 where he registered .213. The student was arrested and charged with DUI Under 21 and Improper Parking. A false ID was also seized. The vehicle was secured and left at the scene and the student was released to detention personnel.
