The Voice

With a new editor in chief, a fresh editorial board, brand new equipment, and a room full of new furniture, The Colonnade has undergone quite a “makeover” for the upcoming year.

Along with these many external changes, we also strive to do a few things different internally, such as stressing the importance of relationships with both our fellow students and faculty/staff.

Our main goals are to have more input from the student body and to be more in touch with the community.

We want to represent you, but we can’t do that successfully without E-mails and/or letters from you, suggestions for improvement and more student involvement. With new T-shirts and new promotional items such as frisbees, pens and cups, we plan to have contests in The Colonnade throughout the year to increase involvement.

Many people don’t know how to connect with us, so this is us, inviting you. We’re located downstairs in MSU (Room 128) and our E-mail is colonnade@gcsu.edu.

The editorial staff will also be wearing their Colonnade T-shirts every Monday, starting August 22, as a reminder that we have meetings every Monday at 4:45 p.m. We encourage students of all majors to attend our meetings, whether they want to report, take pictures, sell ads, or just give us some suggestions to better our paper. We’re always looking for story ideas as well, so don’t be shy!

We plan to have constant contact with each department on a weekly basis to discuss possible story coverage.

A great foundation was built last year with the old editor in chief, Bo Shell, and as new editor, I promise to build upon that foundation. Thanks to our new very dedicated section editors (Tyler Smith, Isaac Godfrey and Wes Brown), advertising team (Jodie Cain and Laura Adkins), photography editor (Will Godfrey), business manager (Loren Elliott) and wonderful adviser (Macon McGinley), I have no doubt that we’ll have a great year!

Best of luck this semester,

Christina Homer
Editor in Chief
