Peer Educator Program seeks responsible students
GC&SU has recently implemented a Peer Education Program called P.A.W.S. (Peers Advocating Wellness Successful).
We are seeking students interested in being trained as nationally certified BACCHUS and GAMMA Peer Educators or students who want to serve in a support role in implementing wellness programming. These students can then assist in promoting alcohol abuse prevention and other health/safety related student issues on campus. Students will attend a one-day training (free) to become certified as a Peer Educator and will have on-going assistance. Students will also have opportunities to attend BACCHUS/GAMMA workshops and conferences.
The BACCHUS (Boost Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students) and GAMMA (Greeks Advocating Mature Management of Alcohol) Peer Education Network believe that trained students “can play a uniquely effective role, unmatched by professional educators, in encouraging their peers to consider, talk honestly about, and develop responsible habits, attitudes and lifestyles regarding alcohol and related issues”.
Interested students will need to complete an application; provide a letter of recommendation; be a non-smoker; and be a non-drinker/responsible drinker. This is a great opportunity to gain experience; build additional skills; add to your transcript; and to make a difference in your campus and community!
