In this day and age, sex has become a major hot button in our society.

Truth is, kids are engaging in sexual activities at younger ages

I, for one, find this to be alarming and eye opening. Why is it that so many young people feel the need to become intimate at such a young age? And what are the repercussions?

And then, when you think about it, what happens when you get to college bearing in mind your past experiences? When it comes to dating in 2005, how important is sex, really?

This is not going to be an up close and personal article, so rest assured that no names will be given. However, I want you to think about your own personal views and the views of your friends or parents.

Society today puts so many labels on sex and dating. Some see it as a moral issue and others see it as a natural progression in a relationship. For others, it is just what it is– sex.

My mom always taught me that there was a difference between having sex and making love– and that one holds greater consequence over the other.

But how do you justify your views if, say, your partner believes in something other than what you do? It’s simple. At the end of the day, you have to live with your decision on what makes you feel morally strong.

Never think that being pressured into doing something you don’t want to do will in anyway make someone care for you more. This includes having sex.

The increase of sex at a younger ages should scare us all because it is not something that goes without emotional strain. You should always consider your partner and his or her emotional connection to the act, because there is always a moment after.

So whether it is making a conscience decision on bringing your relationship to another level or something less serious, always remember, there is always a good and bad in every major decision that you make in life.
