Athlete says thanks for support
This is actually written as a letter of appreciation. I am a freshman at GC&SU. I came here on a soccer scholarship from the small town where supposedly “everybody is somebody”–that’d be Snellville. Soccer has always been a huge part in my life, but the true appreciation for the sport has never really been observed. Soccer has taught me that teamwork, perseverance, patience, hard work, and the sacrifice really pay off. This is the same lesson that hundreds who attend out school have learned as they have played their ports throughout the years.
Where I come from, sports, soccer in particular, are regularly unnoticed despite the major fraction of time, especially in this day and age. This is why I was extremely surprised to see the promotion and support that GC&Su had for its athletes–something I never saw much of in high school.
I believe that sports play vital roles in our athlete’s lives, and have done so since they first picked up the ball or put on a jersey. When the entire uphill struggle to maintain this sort of lifestyle is made clear to others, and to each other, it makes me smile. Coming from a true bobcat athlete, the combination of school and the gam I love most is difficult, but all the more with it seeing the respect and appreciation your newspaper shares with the faculty/student body for its athletes. So thank you for your indefinite care and encouragement. I look forward to your future articles!
