Terrell move is best for students
Editor:
The idea of renovating the old dorm Terrell and turning it into the new location for the overflow of faculty and staff is fabulous. With the decision to move programs into Terrell to put them more in touch with students, I believe more students will be more persuaded to interact within these very programs.
The best place for the Language Department is back on campus. Being very close to other buildings that house majors who actually need to use the Language department would not harm anyone. Even myself, I would be more likely to take a trip over to the Language Department and see what it’s all about. With the decision to move the Language department back on campus it also looks as though the Mass Communication Department will have a place to call their own and can really stretch out their fingers to prospective students looking for a major.
The only concern that I would have for taking Terrell offline as a housing dorm would be the housing of new students next year. I know that we recently built Napier again to bring yet another dorm to our little town. There would be no problem with housing the new freshmen as long as we put a cap on this influx. I am not aware if we have already chosen to do this, but it would seem only logical. With all these new and exciting changes I look forward to seeing the new Terrell building and the new offices of our ‘lost’ departments.
