MTV show looks past appearance
Editor:
I am writing this letter to the editor in response to The Voice in the Friday Feb. 25 edition.
I think Room Raiders is a good show to aim toward teenagers. As a high school student, I remember looks being very important. Most high schoolers wanted to date the most attractive guy or girl at the school to gain popularity. It didn’t matter what type of personality they had, all that mattered was they way they looked. This show helps high schoolers learn that appearance doesn’t mean everything.
Room Raiders lets people dig through rooms to determine what type of person lives there, not having any clue as to what they look like. MTV is trying to influence young adults to look further than name brand clothes and superficial exteriors to see the real person on the inside.
Just because someone is very attractive and wears nice clothes does not necessarily mean that he or she is a genuine, sincere, fun, caring person who would be worth dating.
