GC&SU says farewell to Taylor at reception

A farewell dinner for Teresa Taylor, program coordinator of enrollment management at Georgia College & State University, was held Thursday, Feb. 24.

Leaving behind her many current positions at GC&SU, Taylor will not rush off to a new job. Instead, she will be at home spending some well deserved time off with her family and friends.

“I am actually going to take about three months off and spend some time with my family,” Taylor said. “My family has become so important to me and I feel like while my parents are in good health, I want to spend as much time as possible with them before I start on a new job.”

In her five years of employment, Taylor participated in numerous activities on campus. These activities include advising both Gamma Beta Phi and the Archery Club while becoming an honorary member of Gamma Sigma Sigma and full member of Omicron Delta Kappa.

“I’ve been involved with some wonderful students and I feel very fortunate to have had that part of my job,” Taylor said. “Being able to deal with students and learning new things from students was wonderful.”

Taylor was also instrumental in reactivating Students in Free Enterprise on campus. During Taylor’s three year involvement, the student team won the Rookie of the Year award, a division award for the Atlanta area and two regional champions of the year awards.

“I’ve known Teresa not only as an employee, but I also knew her as a student,” admissions and former Colonnade staffer Joffery Blair said. “We worked on a service learning project to help get Students of Free Enterprise back on campus. I already thought she was an outstanding person then and working with her now, she’s just extremely dedicated. It’s going to be a loss for us, but we’re happy for her.”

“[She has a] great attitude and is most deserving of ever future success,” Executive Assistant of Academic Affairs W. Neil Jones, former co-worker of Taylor, said. “She is just a great person.”

Taylor will be greatly missed by the Milledgeville community as well. During her ten years as a Milledgeville resident, Taylor has participated in Family Connections, United Way, Central Georgia United Cancer Society, Forward Baldwin, Leadership Baldwin and the Court Appointed Special Advocate program. She was also involved in numerous teen programs at Sinclair Baptist Church.

Before she was an employee at GC&SU, Taylor was a student at the university and received her Masters of Public Relations and a BBA in management.

“I always thought it was so important to get involved with my community and I try to be as much involved as possible the last ten years,” said Taylor. “I’ve made some wonderful friends that I will take with me when I leave in my heart. I’ve met so many wonderful people at GC&SU.”
