Comedian, band to provide double entertainment

Comedian Daniel Kinno will kick off a two-day entertainment package called “Comedian, Concert and a Cookout” Tuesday, March 8 in the Pine Lounge at 7 p.m in the Student Activities Center at Georgia College & State University.

During the two nights of free entertainment and free food, Kinno’s concert will feature Two Skinny Dorks, who will also be on front campus Wednesday, March 9.

Kinno’s unique style of observational humor mixed with his youthful delivery has made him a favorite at clubs and colleges across the country. Born and raised in Russia, Kinno has an unusual and hilarious perspective on everyday events ranging from dating and college life to the realities of going to work. His brand of comedy combines a deeper look into simple human behavior, while his wit keeps audiences begging for more.

“This guy is hilarious. He’s young and has already accomplished so much in his career by playing many famous comedy clubs all over the country,” Katy Dennison, concert chair of Campus Activities Board said. “His humor is about things college kids can relate to, whether it’s about crazy roommates or partying.”

At the age of 21, Kinno has become New England’s youngest headliner, making frequent appearances at famous comedy clubs. In July 2002, Kinno was dubbed one of the top new young comics nationwide. His popularity has landed him negotiations with 2 networks for sitcoms, as well as specials for HBO and Comedy Central, and slated for appearances on Letterman and the Tonight Show according to his booking agency.

“Two Skinny Dorks,” an innovative acoustic pop-funk duo, launched a tour to take back the world with peace, laughter and a style of music that truly rips down stereotypes and crosses all the lines of race, gender or age.

They have performed with many well-known artists such as Dave Matthews, The Roots, George Clinton, Juvenile, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Galactic.

“Two Skinny Dorks has a great flavor, nice style, delightful personality and immaculate stage presence rarely seen in music,” Critic Valerie Nome said on the MTV Web Site.

Dennison is looking forward to “Two Skinny Dorks” performance, as well.

“It’s a high-energy, fun band to see perform. They play great music that makes you feel good,” Dennison said. “Their style of music is so hard to define because it blends rock, folk and funk with an acoustic guitar and a saxophone. It’s truly an experience to watch them.”
