ALD film festival to debut at GC&SU
Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society is now accepting submissions for the first annual Baldwin ALD Short Film Festival.
The festival will take place April 22 at Georgia College & State University.
All submissions are due Feb. 22 and should be at most 10 minutes long and in digital format (MiniDV or DVCPro formats preferred). The films will be presented in digital format and projected on an auditorium screen.
Drama, comedy, and animation will be some of the categories for this film festival but students are highly encouraged to be creative and branch out into different categories. Categories will include “Best Short,” “Funniest Short,” “Best Animated Short,” “Best Bobcat Short” and “Best BALD Shot.” The best films in their categories will receive awards such as money and a paid submission to the Atlanta Film Festival for the “Best GC&SU Short” category.
“ALD wants to promote scholastic achievement for first year student and wanted to have an event that would be more cool than nerdy,” said Dr. Karen Bendersky, ALD advisor. “The festival is for all colleges in Georgia, including students, faculty, and staff. It’ll be fun, so encourage your friends, family, and professors to participate and attend.”
According to Bendersky, the ALD Festival should “put GC&SU on the Georgia map” of colleges.
“We’re very excited to see what students come up with and how creative they are,” said Tifanie Schmalenberger, president of ALD. “We’re also very excited to have this competition and bring all the colleges of Georgia together.”
For students who wish to participate, but lack the proper equipment, Joe Windish is holding a free class on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This course will teach students how to use a camera and edit with video editing hardware and software.
