Student Government News…

Students of Georgia College & State University,

As Student Government President, I am honored to announce that coming this spring, there will be a new Student Center in town. Student Government, Campus Activities Board, and the Department of Student Activities will be hosting a week-long unveiling Jan. 24-28, 2005, of this newest addition to our campus. We will have numerous events happening to showcase the versatility of the building throughout the celebration week.

The Student Center is specifically for student use and will come equipped to hold concerts, comedy events, big screen movies, tournaments, and that’s just in one of the numerous rooms students will have access to. This new facility will house major events for students not only on weekdays, but weekends as well. There is a huge ballroom, four meeting rooms, student office spaces, a lounge, and a fully equipped game room. The most important thing about this building is that students will have priority. Students paid for this facility, and SGA, along with the Campus Activities Board, has and will continue to make sure that students always come first. This is very exciting because GC&SU has never had a space that students caould call their very own.

There will also be a couple of offices located in the new Student Center for your convenience. The Department of Student Activities will be located on the third floor of the building. That includes the Outdoor and Intramural Programming offices as well. The SGA offices will be located on the first floor of the building. If you are ever in the building and wish to take a tour, please stop by the SGA office and we will be happy to show you around. We cannot wait to get this Center up and running next semester and hope all of the students at GC&SU will stop by to use it, because it is your money that helped fund the newest addition to our beautiful campus.
