* On Oct. 28, at approximately 10 p.m., Officer Dixon wrote a citation for a vehicle that was parked in a fire lane in lot #10. A wrecker was called to tow the vehicle and when the wrecker arrived Officer Dixon left the scene. Officer Dixon was then called back to the scene and made contact with the wrecker driver, who advised that the other of the vehicle had been told he would have to pay a tow fee before he would release the vehicle back to him. The vehicle owner then took the chains off the vehicle, advised that he was not going to pay and drove his vehicle from the scene. The case is still active at this time.
* On Oct. 29, 2004 at approximately 2:20 a.m., Sgt. Self was patrolling when he observed a white male being extremely belligerent on the sidewalk on Hancock Street. Contact was made with the student, who was extremely intoxicated and was being encouraged to go home by several friends. Sgt. Self approached the student and requested several times for him to calm down and to go home. The student ignored the requests. Sgt. Self then advised the student that he was under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. The student then pulled away from Sgt. Self and made several vulgar comments. While Sgt. Self attempted to handcuff the student, the student resisted arrest and was sprayed with OC spray. He was then subdued and placed under arrest.
A second male at the scene was being restrained by several people. The male was trying to come at Sgt. Self and was making threatening statements. Officer Campbell arrived on scene and attempted to make contact with the second male, who then fled on foot. A brief chase ensued and contact was made with the suspect, a student, who was hiding under some bushes in the formal garden area behind Parks Hall. Both students were arrested and transported to Milledgeville Police Department and charged with Pedestrian Under the Influence, Underage Possession of Alcohol, Obstruction of an Officer and Disorderly Conduct.
* On Nov. 4, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Officer Ennis assisted Milledgeville Police Department with a hit and run that occurred at the Waffle House on Columbia Street. Contact was made with the driver of the suspect vehicle at Greene and Clarke Streets. The driver was arrested by Milledgeville Police department for Hit and Run and transported to Oconee Regional Medical Center to be tested for driving while impaired on prescription drugs.
* On Nov. 6, at approximately 12:01 p.m., Officer Lance observed a man discharging fireworks from a moving vehicle at the intersection of Clarke and Greene Streets. A traffic stop was initiated and several types of fireworks were confiscated and placed in the evidence locker. A citation was issues for Possession and Use of Fireworks.
