Student Government News
Your Student Government Association would like to announce that the Info. Tech Center, located in the new library, is once again open 24 hours Sunday through Thursday. We would like to thank everyone who signed the petition requesting this service and to point out that the political process can be successful. Change can be implemented on our campus if we work together. We look forward to many more petitions that result in better services for the students. If there is something on campus you would like to change, we encourage you to start your own petition drive and to feel free to contact us if you need any help.
A resolution to institute a designated non-smoking entrance for all buildings on the campus of Georgia College and State University has been signed by President Leland and will quickly be implemented. The decision was made to provide a smoke free entrance to all buildings, including residence halls, after a thorough survey was conducted amongst the GC&SU community. The policy was presented not to prevent smokers from exercising their right to smoke but to allow students access to campus buildings without being forced to trek through the cloudy haze that currently surrounds most building entrances. We hope that giving faculty, staff and students a choice between smoking and non-smoking will accommodate everyone.
We would like to announce that sexual orientation has been added to the non-discrimination policy of GC&SU. We are very pleased with this change and feel that it was long overdue.
Do you want cheaper books? We are currently working on several proposals that will give students access to cheaper textbooks. We want you to know that we hear your concerns about how ridiculous it is to buy a book for $100 and then sell it back to the bookstore a few months later for a measly 10 bucks. We are working on it and you will soon see results.
