SGA holds forum for students, opinions will affect GC&SU

Editor:

Your Student Government Association underwent a huge transformation this summer, and we have come to the realization that what we have been doing in the past simply isn’t working. We have been fighting silent battles and keeping our successes and failures within our organization, which has failed to generate the support that we need from the student body to produce monumental changes on campus. During this time of extreme budget cuts, it’s more important now than ever for the students to rally together in order to get what we want and what we deserve from our student body.

The Student Government has emerged from the summer united and determined to push the envelope. Our first goal is to make sure that every person stays informed. Never again will you have to ask the question, “So what does the Student Governemnt do anyway?” We promise to listen and we guarantee action. This year marks the beginning of timely results and fulfilled campaign promises.

The SGA would like to announce that we are finally rockin’ the boat on Tuesday Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. in the MSU Lounge. Your attendance is vital for our success as a student body. This event will be huge because all of the top faculty on campus that represent the main aspects of student life and have the ability to directly make change will be there. This is your event and there will be no speeches made by us or by the faculty. It is strictly a time for you to come and let us know what you want. At this event you can ask anything from, “Can we extend the hours of food service on campus?” to “What can you do to make the wait shorter at the bookstore?” In order to make improvements on campus, we need to know what you want. So skip your afternoon nap for once and come speak out because, if you don’t, then we will be right back where we started from, voiceless and left with a cafeteria that closes before some of us even wake up.

This is the year we fight for what we want and succeed. We hope you’ll join us.
