Public Safety Report
* On Sept. 1, at approximately 7:54 p.m., a student reported that a cell phone was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked on Liberty Street. The student advised that the passenger side door of his vehicle was left unlocked. There are no suspects at this time.
* On Sept. 1, at approximately 11:47 p.m., a woman came to Public Safety to report her granddaughter missing. The woman advised that her granddaughter had left for class at 7 a.m. this date and could not be reached by her cell phone. While gathering the information from the woman it was learned that her granddaughter had returned home.
* On Sept. 2, at approximately 1:47 a.m., Milledgeville Police Department requested assistance at the Alpha Delta Pi House in reference to seeing a white male throwing toilet paper into the trees. When the officers arrived the male had run toward North Columbia Street. While checking the area, a backpack was found in the bushes. Upon closer observation, a name could be seen written on the backpack.. Through several phone calls, contact was made with two students who admitted to toilet papering the house. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Milledgeville Police Department and charged with disorderly conduct.
* On Sept. 2, at approximately 11:48 a.m., Public Safety was dispatched to Centennial Center in reference to Chambers Oil spilling diesel fuel. The Fire Department and EHOS were called to clean up the fuel spill.
* On Sept. 3, at approximately 1:42 a.m., Public Safety was dispatched to Bell Hall in reference to people smoking marijuana. Contact was made with a GC&SU student and his two male visitors. One of the visitors had less than one ounce of marijuana in his shorts pocket. That visitor was arrested and transported to Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and charged with VGCSA. Trespass warnings were issued to the two visitors for all of GC&SU. A student disciplinary was written for the GC&SU student and sent to Student Judiciary.
* On Sept. 3, at approximately 2:51 a.m., Officer Scott Lance was checking the parking area of Centennial Center when a vehicle pulled out in front of him almost causing an accident. A traffic stop was conducted and contact made with the driver. An odor of an alcoholic beverage could be smelled coming from his breath and person. The driver registered .171 blood alcohol count on the Intoxilyzer 5000. The man was arrested and transported to the Milledgeville Police Department and charged with driving under the influence and license to be exhibited on demand.
* On Sept. 3, at approximately 10:26 p.m. a resident assistant reported that there were three suspicious males wandering the hallways without an escort at Foundation Hall. Contact was made with the three men, all visitors. One was given a citation for Underage Possession of Alcohol. Another was tested on the Alco-Sensor and registered .147. And the third man dwas arrested and transported to Milledgeville P.D. and charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol. All three were trespassed from all GC & SU property for 1 year.
* On Sept. 14, at approximately 2:03 p.m., Public Safety responded to a report of a suspicious hangtag on a vehicle in Lot #12. Investigations found that someone had altered a hangtag from a “B” to an “A.” Contact was made with the student, who admitted to altering the hangtag. He was arrested and transported to Baldwin County Sheriff’s Officer and charged with Theft of Services.
