Experience something “Nu”
Mentalist, psychic, hypnotist and comedian Alain Nu will be gracing the Georgia College & State University stage Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the MSU Lounge.
Brought to GC&SU by Student Activities, Nu is known for putting on an “ESP:” extra sensory performance. He is renowned for exhibiting the skills of pantomime theatre, East Asian stage illusions, and close-up trickery and manipulation.
“We saw him at a conference for campus activities,” said Ron Lunk, director of Student Activities, “and we liked his performance, so we decided to bring him here.”
Nu is known for giving students fun-filled evenings of telepathic communication, dealing with thought control and mind over matter. He will make inanimate objects move on their own, and bend metal object, such as spoons effortlessly.
According to Lunk, many of Nu’s acts include audience participation and volunteers. By bringing Nu to GC&SU, campus activities hopes to see a lot of student interaction at this performance.
“We’re trying to get a large number of students out and to see some new faces at this program,” Lunk said.
Lunk anticipates a big crowd for Nu’s performance since GC&SU hasn’t had a performance as peculiar as this one in the past few years.
According to Nu’s Web site, Eric Brace, a reviewer from The Washington Post, said, “Alain Nu is a magician of the highest order. To watch him is to throw out all of the rules of physics. Time and space are malleable in Nu’s cleft hands.”
Nu, originally from Ithaca, New York, has been performing his whole life. Though he began as a street performer, he has been performing nationally and internationally for 20 years. He is a regular headliner at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, and has been a guest speaker at universities, corporations and foundations nationwide.
Creator of many original and commercial effects, Nu has published his ideas in over six magic journals. His first book, “The Bizarre Magic of Alain Nu,” was published in 2000.
