Women Beat Anderson 3-1
On September 3, the GC&SU women’s soccer team won its first home game of the regular season defeating Anderson College 3-1.? Despite being out-shot, the Bobcats rallied behind junior Tami Pissott, who scored two goals on the night.? “A number of players turned in solid performances,” said head coach Robert Parr.? “But we will need to develop consistency and pick up the tempo, especially in the Peach Belt Conference.”

Upcoming Soccer Matches
GC&SU’s women’s soccer team plays North Greenville College at NGC’s home field on September 11. The Lady Bobcats defeated the Lady Crusaders last season with an impressive 4-1 victory.

GC&SU’s women’s soccer team takes on South Carolina State on September 12. The match will be played at the Lady Bulldogs home field in Orangeburg, SC. GC&SU (2-1) defeated SCS (0-3) last season 4-1.

Rough Start for Cross Country
The GC&SU women’s cross country team opened the season in disappointing fashion. The Lady Bobcats finished last of nine teams in the Tulane Invitational on September 3. To the team’s credit, they were the only Division II school in a field of Division I schools. Bethany Loushine was the top runner posting a time of 21:11, good enough for 31st place. Look for the team to rebound when they run in the Georgia State Invitational in Atlanta on September 11.

Next Challenge for Cross Country
GC&SU’s men’s and women’s cross country teams look to get off to a fast start at the Georgia State Invitational in Atlanta on September 11. This will be the men’s first race and the team looks to sophomores Trey Bailey and Joe Bence to provide fast times. The Lady Bobcats look to seniors Crystal Sutton and Bethany Loushine to turn in solid times.

Golf Team Starts Strong
The GC&SU golf team got the season off to a solid start at the Kiawah Island Invitational. The Bobcats finished third in a twelve-team field. Low rounds from Carter Collins (79, 76) and John Tillery (78, 77) led the team. The host team, University of South Carolina at Aiken, won the event. The next tournament for the Bobcats is the first Reliance Bank Intercollegiate Tournament, September 19-21 in Florence, South Carolina.

Intramurals
Ultimate frisbee has slowly gotten underway at GC&SU. Weather has prevented several games from finishing and postponed numerous matches. Matches were played on August 30 and September 1 and Disconnected leads the league with 2 victories. Archery begins September 13 and flag football starts September 20.
