Public Safety Report

* On August 15, 2004, at approximately 3:46 p.m., a student reported that between August 14, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. and August 15, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. unknown person(s) entered his vehicle which was parked in the Foundation hall parking lot and stole a CD player face plate and four CDs. The student was unsure if the vehicle was locked or not.

* On August 18, 2004, at approximately 1:10 p.m., a male student was driving his vehicle on Hancock Street when his vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by a female at the intersection of Hancock and Clarke Street. The male student stated that the light was green, but the female driver stated that the light was red. There was slight damage to both vehicles and no injuries to either party. the vehicle’s were driven off the accident scene.

* On August 20, 2004, at approximately 12:29 a.m., Officer Yates observed a vehicle parked on Clarke Street blocking visibility from Lot #10. A parking citation was issued. At approximately 6:00 a.m., Officer Yates noticed that the ticket had been removed from the vehicle, but the vehicle had not moved into one of the many legal parking spaces that was available. Old Capitol Wrecker was called and towed the vehicle to their impound lot.

* On August 21, 2004, at approximately 7:45 a.m., Office Ennis observed a vehicle traveling down Greene Street with an expired tag. A traffic stop was initiated and contact made with the driver. A check through GCIC found that the driver’s license was suspended and he had no valid insurance. He was arrested and transported to Milledgeville Police Department and charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Expired Tag and No Proof of Insurance.

* On August 22, 2004, at approximately 1:06 a.m., Public Safety was dispatched to Parkhurst Hall on reference to alcohol in the residence hall. Contact was made with a student who was in his room with other subjects drinking alcohol and causing a disturbance. It was determined that the student was 18 years of age. The student was arrested and transported to Milledgeville Police Department and charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol.

* On August 23, 2004, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Physical Plant ground crew advised Public Safety that they had found drug paraphernalia at the field at West Campus. A marijuana pipe was found behind a bush near the picnic area. The item was taken to the station and placed in an evidence bag.

* On August 25, 2004, at approximately 7:27 a.m., Public Safety was dispatched to Parkhurst hall in reference to a fire alarm. Milledgeville Fire Department responded and it was determined that water was in the smoke detector head. The alarm was reset.

* On August 27, 2004, at approximately 5:06 a.m., Public Safety was dispatched to a fire alarm at Blackbridge Hall. Milledgeville Fire Department responded and found no cause for the alarm. They were not able to reset the alarm and Gary Mesler was called in. Mesler advised that it was probably dust particles in the return vent area.

* On August 28, 2004, at approximately 1:40 p.m., Officer Ennis had a vehicle towed from the Adams Lot due to the vehicle blocking traffic and contact with the owner could not be made. Old Capitol Wrecker towed the vehicle to their impound lot on Wayne Street.

* On August 30, 2004, at approximately 11:20 a.m., an employee reported that he was backing up a golf cart in Lot #7 and struck a parked vehicle causing slight damage to the hood and passenger side bumper of the parked vehicle. The vehicle owner was notified.
