Women Win Inaugural Game
On August 28, the Georgia College & State University women’s soccer team won their first game as a varsity program. The Bobcats defeated Converse College 2-0 with goals com- ing from Britni Emerson and Meredith Moran. GC&SU offense produced solid scoring opportunities and out-shot their opponent 22-3.

Basketball Assistant Departs
Georgia College & State University women’s assistant basketball coach Jonathon Barbaree has left to take an assistant coaching position at Furman University. Furman University is a Division I school competing in the Southern Conference. Barbaree has been with GC&SU for nine years, the last four of which were served as an assistant coach.

Bobcats Fall to Tusculum
The Georgia College & State University women’s soccer team lost for the first time this season to No. 8 Tusculum College Sunday, August 29. The Bobcats were not able to keep the offensive momentum alive after their victory over Converse College and fell 4-0. Tusculum out-shot GC&SU 22-2.

Golf Team Headed to South Carolina
The Georgia College & State University golf team is set to compete in the Kiawah Island Invitational. The invitational starts up September 5 and wraps up on September 7. University of South Carolina Aiken is hosting the tournament. The links of choice will be the pristine Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

Women Come Home
The first home game of the season for the Georgia College & State University women’s soccer team is Friday, September 3. The Bobcats will be com- peting against Anderson College. GC&SU is 1-1 and is coming off a rough lose against No. 8 Tusculum College. Anderson College, an institu- tion that competes in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference, is 0-1.

Girl’s Cross Country in New Orleans
Georgia College & State University women’s cross country team opens the season today with the Tulane Invitation in New Orleans. The Lady Bobcats have five seniors and two juniors return- ing to the team including star runner Bethany Loushine, who owns five of the schools top ten 5k times, and junior Crystal Sutton, who holds three of the school’s top ten times.
