Public Safety Report
* On August 14 at approximately 1:25 a.m., Public Safety was dispatched to Bobcat Village in reference to a vehicle that damaged a pole at the traffic arm to the lot. Officer Lance observed a Jeep matching a description of the suspect vehicle leaving the area. A vehicle stop was initiated and contact made with the driver, a male student. A strong odor of alcohol could be smelled coming from the student’s person and his speech was slurred. The vehicle showed evidence of possible contact with the pole . The student was arrested and transported to Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and charged with DUI, Interference With Government Property and Duty Upon Striking Fixture Upon Highway.
* On August 23, a woman reported that someone removed her hanging decal from the dash of her vehicle while it was parked in the Adams Lot.
* On August 24, at approximately 5:25 p.m., Officer Williams issued a parking citation to a vehicle that was parked eight feet from the curb facing the opposite direction of traffic in the 400 block of Greene Street.
* On August 24, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Sgt. Self issued a citation to a female for Loud Music in the 600 block of Wayne Street.
* On August 24, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Officer Williams issued a citation to a female for Seatbelt Requirements at the intersection of Hancock and Clarke Streets.
* On August 24, at approximately 9:54 p.m., Officer Williams was dispatched to Bobcat Village in reference to a fight between a girl and her ex-boyfriend. The man had unexpectedly arrived at the woman’s apartment and unsuccessfully tried to gain entry. A verbal altercation ensued and Public Safety was notified. A Trespass Warning was issued to the ex-boyfriend.
* On August 25, at approximately 1:48 p.m., a construction worker reported that within the past 3 weeks unknown person(s) removed a Hilti hammer drill from his tool truck located at the West Campus construction site. The Hammer drill was entered into GCIC. This case is under investigation.
* On August 26, at approximately 7:51 p.m., the Officer Sposito had 2 vehicles towed from Wilkinson Street because Public Safety was not able to make contact with the vehicle owners and work was to be
done in that area to repair the sink hole.
* On August 26, at approximately 11:29 a.m., Officer Ennis saw a suspicious person in Maxwell Student Union. Contact was made with the man and a check found that he had been prohibited from all GC&SU property on June 22, 2004 in reference to a fight he was involved in. The man was arrested and transported to Baldwin County Sheriffs Office and charged with Criminal Trespass.
* On August 27, at approximately 2:41 a.m., Sgt. Self observed two white males knock over several trash cans on the corner of McIntosh and Clarke Street. Contact was made with both students and they were advised to restore the trash cans back in place and both were charged with Disorderly Conduct. Both were issued Appearance tickets and released on their own recognizance.
* On August 29, at approximately 1:42 p.m., a student reported that in the last 24 hours unknown person(s) entered his vehicle while it was parked in the Centennial Center lot and stole a CD player. There was no forced entry to the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.
* On August 29, Officer Sposito noticed a tree lying across a truck that was parked in the 200 block of Clarke Street. The vehicle had slight damage on the driver side fender and hood.
* On August 30, 2004, a construction worker at West Campus reported that unknown person(s) stole a portable generator and rammer compactor from the Chaote Construction Site at West Campus. The items are valued at $ 3600.
