* According to the Atlanta Journal Constutitution, a Louisville man was killed in a freak accidcent near Marietta on the night of Aug. 30.
The 21-year-old driver, John Kemper Hutcherson, was driving drunk when his long-time friend, 23-year-old Francis Daniel Brohm, who had also been drinking, hung his head out the window of the vehicle and was decapitated by a telephone pole support wire.
Hutcherson was charged with vehicular homicide and DUI.
* The U.S. Olympic Team topped the medal count at the end of the 2004 Games last Sunday.
Team golds in Women’s Basketball, Women’s Beach Volleyball, Women’s Softball and Men’s and Women’s Swimming were capped by spectacular individual efforts by gymnasts Paul Hamm and Carley Patterson and swimmer Michael Phelps, all of whom won gold.
