Love 101
Greetings, students. As the new school year starts, many things come to mind that students may encounter: new faces, classes, demanding schedules, teachers and, most importantly, romance. There is no denying that love is in the air, but let us remember that college is about getting a quality education and experiencing the best years of our lives.
My job is simple. I am here on behalf of The Colonnade to help guide you through the rocky course of love and dating. Although I will be graduating at the end of the year, I’ll be here throughout with words of wisdom, funny stories and a compassionate ear. So please feel free to e-mail questions or comments to me at adesiree820@hotmail.com and let the dating games begin!
When it comes to life, many lessons can be learned from love and dating. Everything you encountered in high school no longer counts in college. This includes the love of your life since eighth grade. I’m sure that the two of you plan on being in love forever, but college is about trying new things and that might include a new significant other. Don’t get me wrong. I strongly encourage true love, but, what if your destiny happens to sit next to you in psychology class? I say you owe romance a chance and you should act accordingly.
Also, when it comes to matters of the heart, we tend to think with our hearts and not with our heads. This works only in movies, so be careful and try to think with a clear head. Ignorance is bliss, but it could hurt you more in the long run when your emotions get too involved.
So to start the new school year off, here are a few suggestions:
Venture out of the norm. Don’t do what you always do. Instead, go out and meet new friends and dare to be different.
Enjoy the single life. If anything, it will save you money.
*Last but not least, never live a life of regret. If you put yourself out on a limb, someone or something will catch you.
Again, welcome back, welcome back, welcome back!
