GC&SU Counseling Services:
Located on the first floor of Lanier Hall “right across from the Coke machine,” Counseling Services can be an excellent place for help with many different kinds of issues. Counseling is voluntary, confidential, free and provided by licensed professional counselors.
Many students seek counseling for personal concerns, such as relationship issues, depression, anxiety, or substance abuse. Students who are taking medications for psychological reasons can get help in managing their medications in conjunction with staff in the Health Services.
Counselors can help with academic skills as well. Whether the issue is time management, study skills or test anxiety, most students do better in classes when they learn effective strategies for approaching school at the college level.
Many students come to counseling for help in choosing a major or career field. These students usually take inventories to learn more about their interests, skills and values, and learn more about fields that might be a good match.
If you have any sort of disability, or think that you might, Counseling Services is a good resource for you. Staff here can help with arranging for testing if needed, and assist you with getting reasonable accommodations you might need for documented disabilities.
