Alumni Weekend encourages alumni to ‘Get Connected’

“Get Connected” is the theme of Alumni Weekend, which will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 23-24, at Georgia College & State University.
The weekend will give GC&SU alumni the opportunity to connect with faculty members and fellow alumni, alike.
According to Jennifer Jones, associate director of Alumni Relations, GC&SU is expecting over 250 people returning to campus with alumni ranging from the Class of 2003 through the Class of 1946.
“Alumni Weekend at Georgia College & State University is always a fun time, not only for the returning graduates, but also for the campus community. Some of our alumni haven’t been to Milledgeville in quite some time, and I believe they will be surprised at how much we’ve grown,” Jones said. “I anticipate that each alumni event that is planned will be filled with story telling. That’s what they are returning to campus for – they want to relive old memories and remember what life was like when they were in college.”
The weekend will include such events as concerts by the A Capella Choir and the GC&SU Concert Band and Jazz Band, special luncheons for various alumni and a tour of historic downtown Milledgeville.
Alumni Weekend will wrap up on Saturday with a dance on the front porch of Atkinson Hall, featuring the Alumni Jazz Combo.
“The theme for Alumni Weekend 2004 is “Get Connected.” That is the goal of the entire weekend. We want to give alumni the chance to reunite and ‘get connected’ not only with lost classmates, but with the university,” April Bragg, chair of the Alumni Weekend Planning Committee said. “GC&SU strives to build long lasting relationships with each of its alumni, and Alumni Weekend is a great way to keep these relationships strong.”
The Honors Day Convocation, a tradition of Alumni Weekend, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 23, in Russell Auditorium. U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn is the ceremony’s keynote speaker and winner of the Georgia College & State University Distinguished Service Award.
