Well, it’s that time of year again,when Georgia College & State University students begin shedding their clothes campus-wide in an effort to stay cool in the Milledgeville heat. One way to stay fashion cool is to throw out your jean shorts. Unacceptable with any gender they have become a joke reserved for hard core NASCAR rednecks and Florida Gator fans. Unfortunately, many girls have not caught on to the simple fact that jean shorts are seriously out and should not be worn … ever.
A guy in jean shorts is a rarity, but can still be seen every now and again, so I feel that they are certainly worth mentioning. We all know that Florida Gator fans rock the jean shorts. But why? Almost always they are shorter than necessary, showing off the male thigh. Loose, tight, long, or short, jean shorts are a NO.
The most shocking part of this fashion revelation is that girls still wear jean shorts. In terms of weather, the female jean short is equivalent to the chunky shoe. While I am a firm believer in the fact that shorts are solely for working out, I know that many girls may disagree with me. With the perfect figure a female can wear shorts, but normal sized women need to stay away. Shorts almost always involve some sort of tugging from within the crotch. I saw a girl in jean shorts, who shall remain nameless, getting out of her car the other day, and I was sickened at what I saw. As soon as she stood up, she began tugging at her shorts, pulling them out of her crotch as well as betwixt her crack. Simply put, that’s sick and easily avoidable.
If you feel the need to get on the jean train, then try these other denim options.
Instead of a stubborn jean short, opt for something that won’t make you go hunting within your nether regions in search for the bottom of your short. I invite you to wear jean skirts, long or short, they are a great replacement to the redneck jean short that plagues girls today. Use caution. Choosing a skirt that is too short can leave little to the imagination and will end up giving you the same negative effect as jean shorts.
Just because it’s summer, don’t cast aside your trusty jeans. They’re still good to wear and cool enough if paired with a short sleeved shirt. Don’t leave out the jean capri or other capri pants like them. They are cool, summery and won’t leave you digging.
Let me leave you with this last note of advice, guys and gals. If this is the only thing you get out of any of the fashion file columns, make sure it is this. Just because a store sells something, it doesn’t mean that it is the right way to go. I know that many of the stores that we shop in and love opt to provide jean shorts as an option for summer attire. Please do not be fooled into thinking that just because it’s being sold, it is acceptable. You will surely be laughed at and picked on if you choose denim as a fashion piece in warm weather. If not by your friends, and not by others around you, then definitely by me. Take my advice and find another alternative to jean shorts.
