The Voice

You may have known this from personal experience, but it turns out that nipples are a sensitive area for many Americans … and also for the Federal Communications Commission.
Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson surprised millions of viewers at last Sunday’s Super Bowl with their revealing rendition of Timberlake’s “Rock Your Body.” Timberlake ripped off a piece of Jackson’s costume and exposed her breast. After the mammary mishap during the Super Bowl halftime show, the FCC declared a full investigation into the event.
Justin Timberlake assures that the incident was a “wardrobe malfunction.” What is odd about this scenario is that no one in their right mind wears the kind of nipple hardware she was wearing unless … okay, here at The Colonnade, we have no idea why anyone in their right mind would want to wear something that painful. Come on, it looked like she pinned a ninja star to her nipple.
Here at The Colonnade, we have no problem with Janet Jackson baring her chest. In fact, most of us genuinely enjoyed the moment. Yet the fact remains that the Super Bowl is not a pay-per-view event. Entire families sit down to root for their favorite team, and they expect to see plenty of hardcore action on the field. However, they do not count on their children seeing such a titilating performance.
TiVo reports that more than 180,000 households used their rewind technology to replay the event. Lycos reports that Jackson’s nipple has received more internet searches than either the Paris Hilton sex tape or the attacks of 9/11.
Many believe the event was planned to maximize media attention for Jackson’s new album, which is set to hit stores this spring. In fact, Jackson may release her new CD earlier than expected in order to capitalize on all the … umm, exposure.
